What data does Zero Assist collect during an interview session?

Zero Assist collects a list of running process names, timestamps of when flagged processes start and stop, and alert events generated during the session. It does not capture screenshots, keystrokes, file contents, browser history, or any personal documents on the candidate's machine. Only process metadata relevant to interview integrity is collected.

Is Parakeet AI detected by Zero Assist?

Yes. Zero Assist detects Parakeet AI in real time. Parakeet AI runs as a background process that listens to audio and whispers AI-generated answers during interviews. Zero Assist monitors OS-level processes and fires an alert the moment Parakeet AI is found running — delivering the notification to the interviewer in under 500 milliseconds.

Does Zero Assist detect Final Round AI and Cluely?

Yes. Zero Assist detects Final Round AI, Cluely, Interview Coder, LockedIn AI, and 20+ other AI interview cheating tools through forensic process monitoring and GPU overlay detection.

Is Zero Assist GDPR compliant?

Yes. Zero Assist operates under a legitimate interests lawful basis for candidate monitoring. Candidates are informed of monitoring before the session begins and can request access, correction, or deletion of their data. A standard Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available for companies hiring in the EU. Data retention is configurable and automated deletion workflows are available.

How long is session data retained?

By default, session data is retained for 90 days after the interview. You can configure this in your account settings. For candidates who are not hired, we recommend deleting session data within 6 months in line with GDPR guidance.

Does the app require administrator access?

No. The Zero Assist app runs without administrator or root access. It is a single-file executable that candidates download and run before the interview. It exits cleanly at the end of the session and leaves no persistent installation on the candidate's machine.

What AI cheating tools does Zero Assist detect?

Zero Assist detects ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Parakeet AI, Final Round AI, Cluely, Interview Coder, LockedIn AI, Sensei Copilot, Beyz AI, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Blackbox AI, Phind, Poe AI, interviewfox, imodule, and 20+ more AI interview cheating tools.

How is Zero Assist priced?

Zero Assist uses a credit-based pricing model. New accounts receive free credits to run their first monitored sessions with no credit card required. Credits are consumed per interview session. Contact support@zeroassist.in for team and enterprise pricing.

How do I stop candidates from using ChatGPT or Parakeet AI during technical interviews?

Zero Assist is specifically built to solve this. Instead of manually policing candidates over Zoom, you send them a Zero Assist link alongside their interview invite. During the interview, Zero Assist monitors OS-level processes and flags tools like ChatGPT, Parakeet AI, or Cluely in real time, delivering alerts straight to your dashboard.

Can I see candidate forensic logs directly inside Greenhouse, Lever, or Workday?

Yes! Zero Assist offers seamless ATS integrations for platforms like Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, and BambooHR. You can configure it so that when a candidate enters the "Technical Screen" stage, an invite is auto-generated, and the resulting forensic score is pushed directly back to their ATS profile as an internal note or tag.

Frequently Asked Questions

What data does Zero Assist Monitor collect during an interview session?

Zero Assist Monitor collects a list of running process names, timestamps of when flagged processes start and stop, and alert events generated during the session. It does not capture screenshots, keystrokes, file contents, browser history, or any personal documents on the candidate's machine. Only process metadata relevant to interview integrity is collected.

Where is my data stored?

All session data is stored on a self-hosted PostgreSQL database running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in Mumbai, India. Data is encrypted in transit via TLS 1.2+ and at rest via AES-256. We do not sell or share your data with third parties. Customers can request data residency details and a signed Data Processing Agreement (DPA) at support@zeroassist.in.

Is Zero Assist Monitor GDPR compliant?

Yes. Zero Assist Monitor operates under a legitimate interests lawful basis for candidate monitoring. Candidates are informed of monitoring before the session begins and can request access, correction, or deletion of their data. We provide a standard DPA for companies hiring in the EU. Data retention is configurable, and automated deletion workflows are available.

How long is session data retained?

By default, session data is retained for 90 days after the interview. You can configure this in your account settings. For candidates who are not hired, we recommend deleting session data within 6 months in line with GDPR guidance from most EU supervisory authorities. For hired candidates, data can be retained through the employment relationship.

Can I delete a session's data after the interview?

Yes. You can delete any session and its associated alert data at any time from the Zero Assist Monitor dashboard. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If a candidate submits a deletion request under GDPR or similar laws, you can process it immediately from the session detail page.

Who inside my organisation can access session data?

Session data is scoped to the account that created the session. Zero Assist Monitor supports unit (sub) accounts for team structures — unit accounts can access only their own sessions. Main admin accounts can view all sessions under the organisation. No cross-organisation data access is possible.

What permissions does the Zero Assist Monitor agent need on the candidate's machine?

The Zero Assist Monitor agent requires permission to enumerate running processes on the OS — the same permission a task manager uses. It does not need administrator/root access, microphone access, camera access, file system access, or network traffic interception. It reads process names and nothing else.

Does Zero Assist Monitor require the candidate to install anything permanently?

On Windows, the Zero Assist Monitor agent uses a lightweight installer (.exe) that sets up the agent in the candidate's local user folder — no administrator rights are required, and nothing is written to system directories. The installation takes under a minute. Once the interview is complete, the candidate can uninstall it like any other program via Windows Settings → Apps (or Control Panel → Programs), leaving no background services or scheduled tasks behind. On macOS, the agent is a single self-contained application that requires no installation at all — just download, run for the session, and delete afterward. In both cases, all monitoring stops the moment the session ends or the agent is closed.

Can Zero Assist Monitor access the candidate's camera or microphone?

No. Zero Assist Monitor does not access the camera, microphone, or any audio/video hardware. It operates entirely at the process level. Video and audio for the interview itself go through your existing video call platform (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) — Zero Assist Monitor has no involvement in that stream.

How much does Zero Assist Monitor cost?

Zero Assist Monitor offers a credit-based pricing model. You purchase interview credits and use one credit per monitored session. Volume discounts are available for teams running more than 50 interviews per month. Contact sales@zeroassist.in for enterprise pricing or schedule a demo to see a full pricing breakdown.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New accounts receive free credits to run their first monitored sessions at no cost — no credit card required at signup. This lets you evaluate Zero Assist Monitor with real candidates before committing to a paid plan.

What happens if the candidate's internet drops during the session?

The Zero Assist Monitor agent buffers alert events locally and syncs them to the dashboard when connectivity is restored. If the session ends before connectivity returns, buffered events are uploaded the next time the agent can reach our servers. No alert data is lost due to temporary connectivity issues.

How accurate is Zero Assist Monitor's detection? Are there false positives?

Zero Assist Monitor detects processes by name against a known database of flagged tools. False positives can occur if a candidate has a legitimate tool installed that shares a name with a flagged process — for example, a browser extension with the same process name as a cheating tool. The alert shows the exact process name so you can make a judgment call. We continuously refine the detection database to reduce false positives.

Can Zero Assist Monitor be bypassed or detected by the candidate?

The Zero Assist Monitor agent runs as a standard user process and does not make itself invisible. A technically sophisticated candidate could see it in their task manager. However, the agent only monitors — it does not block or interfere with other processes. Attempting to kill the agent mid-session logs a disconnection event visible to the interviewer.

Does Zero Assist Monitor work on Windows and Mac?

Yes. The Zero Assist Monitor agent is available for both Windows and macOS. Linux support is on the roadmap. The interviewer dashboard works in any modern browser on any operating system.

Can Zero Assist Monitor integrate with our existing interview platform?

Zero Assist Monitor works alongside any video interview platform — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or a custom setup. The candidate runs the Zero Assist Monitor agent separately while conducting the interview over your existing tool. Deep integrations with specific ATS platforms are planned for future releases.

How does Zero Assist Monitor detect AI-assisted cheating?

Zero Assist Monitor maintains a database of process names associated with known AI cheating tools — including Parakeet AI, Cluely, Final Round AI, and others. When the agent detects a matching process running on the candidate's machine, it sends a real-time alert to the interviewer dashboard via WebSocket. The alert shows the process name, severity level, and timestamp so you can respond immediately.

Is Parakeet AI detected by Zero Assist?

Yes. Zero Assist detects Parakeet AI in real time by monitoring OS-level processes on the candidate's machine during the interview. Parakeet AI runs as a background process that listens to audio and whispers AI-generated answers — but it cannot hide its process from Zero Assist's forensic agent. The moment Parakeet AI launches, the interviewer dashboard receives an alert with the process name and timestamp. Read more in our detailed guide: Can Parakeet AI Be Detected in Technical Interviews?

Can Final Round AI be detected during a live interview?

Yes. Final Round AI is on Zero Assist's detection list. It operates as a screen overlay or background process that feeds candidates AI-generated answers in real time. Zero Assist's agent scans the process list continuously and fires an alert the moment Final Round AI — or any of its associated processes — is found running. The alert is delivered to the interviewer in under 500 milliseconds via WebSocket.

Does Zero Assist detect Cluely?

Yes. Cluely is a hidden interview copilot that overlays AI suggestions on screen during live interviews. Zero Assist detects Cluely through OS-level process monitoring and GPU overlay pattern detection. When Cluely is active on the candidate's machine, Zero Assist sends a real-time alert to the interviewer dashboard — even if the candidate has minimised or hidden the Cluely window.

Does Zero Assist detect ChatGPT and other browser-based AI tools?

Yes. Zero Assist detects ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and other AI tools when they are open as active browser tabs or running as standalone desktop applications. The forensic agent monitors browser process activity and flags AI assistant domains in real time. This covers both the official ChatGPT desktop app and browser-based usage during the session.

Do you provide an API for custom Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)?

Yes, we provide a robust Partner Webhook API. If you use a proprietary internal hiring tool or a niche ATS, your engineering team can map Zero Assist session creation and real-time risk score webhooks to your custom business processes in under an hour.
